These Hotdogs Are Wicked!

When you were a kid, did you ever play with your food? I don’t mean slingshotting your marshmallows in the air like a mesh hall food fight. I mean experimenting with your food with no regard for posh culinary standards—layering your burger with potato chips and cheese curls, smothering your sandwich with every condiment on the table, or eating junk food for dinner.

On the menu? Not your average hotdog sandwiches.

The owners of Wicked Dogs, which opened early this year, tapped their inner child when they came up with the menu of this hip hotdog joint in Aguirre Street, foodie haven of the south. There’s Cachorro Quente Completo, their supersized version of Brazil’s popular hotdog sandwich that’s layered with mashed potatoes, corn kernels, tomatoes, cheese sauce, and potato chips. Another popular pick is Tijuana Bacon Dog, a bacon-wrapped frank smothered with Sriracha sauce, chili con carne, cheese sauce, and a fried egg topping.

My lunch order, Cachorro Quente Completo, their supersized version of Brazil’s popular hotdog sandwich that’s layered with mashed potatoes, corn kernels, tomatoes, cheese sauce, and potato chips. I was still full by 7 p.m.

Wicked Dogs has a selection of four specialty dogs (P250 each) and four classic hotdog sandwiches (P95-P145 each), and you can opt for standard franks or a healthier (or so I thought) turkey dog. For your side dishes, pick from five kinds of fries. Wash those down with their selection of beers and bottled sweet drinks. If you have room for dessert, there are floats, ice cream by the scoop, mochiko mocha, and cookie dough bar.

This isn’t your typical mall hotdog stand. The space is small, but maximized with bright and artsy interiors, complete with quirky touches that seem to be prerequisite for most foodie joints these days—wall doodles, board games and books on the shelf, and mustache sticks on the table.

Wicked Dogs is located at 40 Aguirre Avenue, BF Homes, Parañaque City, Philippines.
