There’s a new boutique fitness studio that opened in Makati this March. With a name inspired by bees congregating into a hive to nourish and cultivate a family, Yoga Hive does exactly that for both its students and teachers. On their first week of opening, I saw a lot of familiar faces from the fitness and modeling community.
The roster of teachers include people I’ve worked with in the past—Bambi Dela Cruz, makeup artist and yoga teacher who has been a friend for years; Pretty Darn Fit’s Nikki Torres, who I featured in Women’s Health back in 2014; and Paulo Leonido, who I first met in The Farm back in 2012.
Classes to choose from include Vinyasa, yoga fundamentals, pole dancing, Yin yoga, aerial hoop, and NT Sweat, a toning and dance cardio workout created by Nikki Torres. If you’re tired of the usual spa music that most traditional yoga studios offer, then you’ll love the alternative playlists of Yoga Hive’s teachers.
The studio’s interiors were designed to feel like a cozy cabin, with aesthetically pleasing fixtures from floor to ceiling, making your shavasana more serene. You’ll be tempted to hang out a little longer after each class, thanks to the swing seats, bunk bed, and other playful but comfy furniture made from eco-friendly materials.
The location is also convenient for Makati dwellers. Right around the corner is Echo Store, a sustainable lifestyle indoor market and café. On Saturdays you can just cross to the Jaime C. Velasquez Park for the Salcedo Market.
Hope to bump into you at the hive!
Yoga Hive is located at 101 Three Salcedo Place, 123 Tordesillas Street, Salcedo Village, Makati City. Visit yogahive.ph for their rates and schedules.
