Panda Nails at Powder Room
Talk about a birthday beautification! Last month I visited Powder Room Beauty Lounge for the first time to try out their services. They’re a one-stop beauty shop where you can get mani-pedis, waxing, threading, eyelash extensions, makeup, hairstyling, and spa treatments.
My thoughts on the three services I got:
1. Luxury Package
What: spa scrub, 15-minute hand and foot massage, hand and foot paraffin treatment, manicure, and pedicure
Kate’s Notes: The package saves you around ₱450 as compared to getting the services separately. It was my first time to try the paraffin treatment, so dipping my hands and feet in oil-based wax was uncomfortable in the beginning. It reminded me of the times my cousins and I were kids. We would play with candles and the wax painfully dripped on my hands. But Powder Room’s attendants helped me ease into the process by showing me tricks on how to properly dip my digits into the grape-scented melted wax.
According to studies, paraffin treatments help relieve joint and muscle pain, moisturize skin, and improve blood circulation. As for the scrub and massage, I thoroughly enjoyed them more than the paraffin treatment.
2. Nail Art
What: Choose from acrylic nails, hand-painted art, and 3D art (glitter, sequins, decals, foils, art tape, caviar beads, Swarovski, and sticker appliques).
Kate’s Notes: After browsing through their boxes of nail art stickers, I had my heart set on the pandas for my hands, and cats for my toes. They applied CND Shellac Power Polish in Lush Tropics on my hands, and the Lilac Longing shade on my toes. After drying my gel nails via UV lamp, they carefully applied the stickers and placed a top coat.
It’s too bad my panda nails peeled off after just four days. But CND Shellac really has a reputation for easily peeling off. Top that with my compulsive hand washing (I have 16 pets at home, so I always wash my hands after handling my cats and dogs). I guess it shouldn’t have been a surprise that my gel nails easily peeled off. My cat nail art on my toes are still going strong, though!
Price: Depends on your choice of design and materials. Click here for a full price list.
What: They do customized hairstyling. Just bring a photo or show them a video clip of the specific ‘do you want. I initially asked for basic waterfall braids, but they suggested double braids, which I loved. And yes, I am happy to report that Powder Room Beauty Lounge is curl-friendly!
Price: Starts at ₱500 for adults and ₱250 for children
