Dry Run: Islands Stay Hotel

When a new establishment announces that they are on dry run, I usually brace myself for slow customer service and panicky new employees trying to get the hang of the busy pace. “Please bear with us,” a sign would usually say when you enter the new restaurant or hotel.

That wasn’t the case with this new hotel.

When we visited Cebu City last week, we checked into Islands Stay’s Mactan Branch for an irresistible promo rate of P950 a night in a large room. What a deal! The modern, pop designed room includes two double beds, a cozy beanbag, a small work desk with matching chairs, and one bathroom. The amenities are: free wifi, LCD TV with cable channels, and complimentary bottled water for all checked-in guests.

Located at M.L. Quezon National Highway, the hotel is walking distance from Marina Mall and just a taxi ride from Gaisano Mall and Ayala Center Cebu. There are also neighboring restaurants such as AA BBQ that are worth the stop.

The owner of Islands Stay Hotel is the same group that runs Islands Souvenirs, Islands Jeepney Tours, and Islands Banca Cruises. Notice the bright orange and green color scheme? It’s a telltale sign that it’s from the Islands Group of Companies.

What dry run? It felt like they’ve been professionally running this hotel for a while. If you’re booking a trip to Cebu soon, better take advantage of Islands Stay’s promo rates. It’s not a fancy hotel, but it’s a great place to check into if you’re spending most of your vaca at the beach or touring the city.
