Thank goodness for the invention of foldable shoes. It’s a staple in my travel luggage and I always have a pair hidden in my purse during wedding receptions and parties. A girl can only stand wearing sky-high heels for so long.
To launch their Spring-Summer 2016 collection in the Philippines, British shoe brand Butterfly Twists invited a couple of lifestyle bloggers and journalists such as myself to a walking tour around Bonifacio Global City. Headed by artist Dee Jae Paeste, the tour showed us the different graffiti artworks and murals around the area (more on that in my next blog post).

There was a catch: We had to wear the new pair of foldable ballet flats gifted by Butterfly Twists to see if they’re comfy enough to last a whole afternoon of walking under the Manila heat. My verdict: Yes, it passed my walkathon test! In my years of travel, I’ve injured my feet and legs by wearing the wrong shoes. I once sprained my ankles after wearing cheap boots around Hong Kong, and pulled a muscle while walking in ill-fitting sneakers around Singapore, among many other travel mishaps. I learned the hard way that when it comes to travel, you should invest in good quality shoes and flip-flops.

Butterfly Twists’ foldable ballet flats were comfortable enough to wear, and the complementary ballerina socks with cushioned heels helped, too. At the end of the BGC tour, we got a glimpse of their entire collection, and I’d like to share some designs that caught my eye:

Note that only the ballet flats and peep-toes are foldable. The plimsolls and sandals can’t be folded in half. For my fellow travelers, roll with the foldables.
