Every time the weather changes, we beauty junkies need to make an adjustment in the products we put on our faces. We need to consider facing the elements of humidity, rainfall, and torrential winds. Here’s a list of what I’m personally using this monsoon season.
1. Cushion compacts
Commuting or traveling in rainy weather is challenging enough, so give your thick foundation and powder a break by trying the Korean craze that is cushion makeup. Unlike regular foundations, it gives a thin, lightweight, and dewy coverage that K-Pop stars are known for. The best part: All cushion brands have built-in SPF without the sticky white cast.

2. SPF skincare
A common beauty misconception is that you don’t need to apply SPF when the sun isn’t visible. Wrong! The sun’s harmful UV rays can still penetrate through windows and clouds during daytime, so it’s best to wear SPF throughout the day. Don’t like the sticky feel of sunscreen? Try a water-based version or use makeup with built-in SPF.

3. Primer
If you really can’t help but wear layers of makeup—contouring and all—I completely understand! Just make sure you invest in a good primer to give your masterpiece a long-lasting and budge-proof power.

4. Waterproof makeup
Even if it’s technically typhoon season in the Philippines, the weather can go from bright and sunny one moment to humid and rainy the next. The last thing you want to see is makeup running down your face midday. Use what’s left of your waterproof makeup from last summer, or better yet, invest in new ones.

5. Non-sticky lippies
Imagine this: The storm is picking up. A gust of wind whips your hair to your face and it gets caught on your lipgloss. Gross! For the crazy weather, give your lipglosses and sticky lipsticks a break. Choose long-wear and matte.

6. Frizz-fighting hair care
Even just a hint of humidity can cause frizz, whether you have pin straight hair or curls like mine. Keep your straight hair sleek or lock in your curls with extra moisturizing hair products.

7. Acne-fighting skincare
I get a zit here and there whenever the weather suddenly changes. Do you also experience breakouts during humid or rainy weather? Address those zits with a spot-on treatment, but complement it with acne-fighting facial wash.

What are your rainy day must-haves, dear readers?
