When I was a kid in the US, I looked forward to trips to the drive-through car wash. It was like a fun amusement park ride. My father would make sure all our windows were closed before driving through a mysterious tunnel. My sister and I watched in delight as swirly contraptions drenched, soaped, and scrubbed our car. It was shiny and new again as we drove out of the tunnel.

There are a few compact versions here in the Philippines, but there’s one wash shop that recently caught my eye—Bike Rx in Westgate Filinvest, a one-stop shop for bikers.

After your marathon or vigorous bike ride, you park your bike at the small tunnel, which is similar to drive-through car washes, except that you watch from the window inside the shop. You may take a shower at the customer lounge. When both you and your bike are spic-and-span, you may shop for parts and accessories or ask a bike doctor to check on your ride.

A lot of loyal customers stop by Bike Rx right before heading home after a marathon to avoid getting in trouble with the missus. It’s better than coming home with muddy tires and their equally muddy selves.

Coming soon: Trader Juan’s coffee shop right next to Bike Rx. You may grab a quick meal and coffee with fellow bike enthusiasts.
