La Laguna Bali: My Dream Home

This place looks like it was carved from my dreams. I saw a video of La Laguna on Facebook last year and jotted it down in my “places to visit” in Bali. But I wasn’t prepared to be blown away the moment I stepped into this piece of paradise.

The lagoon

La Laguna Bali is a boho-chic beach club located on the sands that border Berawa and Batu Belig in Canggu. The semi-cobbled paths will lead you to vintage wooden gypsy caravans, a sprawling garden, a wooden bar, a restaurant that serves healthy fusion dishes and cocktails, and ornate paths that take you to a lagoon and beach front.

Kate was here.

When I read the story of Gonzalo and Sandra Assiego, the couple behind La Laguna, it’s like I was reading my own thoughts—my future plans of building a home next to a thriving bohemian business. This place was born out of the couple’s need for a relocation plan for their children and Gonzalo’s passion for horses. They paid homage to Gonzalo’s Spanish gypsy heritage with the way they designed the place. La Laguna officially opened to public in 2014.

Scroll down to see why it was love at first sight for me.

There was a drop in Bali’s tourism rate last year because of the volcano scare. There were fewer than 10 customers in La Laguna during my visit.
