Catch the Biggest Philippine Tourism Sale of 2021

Get discounted travel and food vouchers that you can use until 2022!

Think of this as the Lazada/Shopee 9.9 sale of Philippine tourism. The September Online Sale (SOS), which runs from September 15 to October 15, 2021, has hundreds of travel vouchers for up to 70% off . Organized by the Hotel Sales and Marketing Association (HSMA), this online sale can be accessed at hsma.org.ph/sos.

The inaugural SOS was held last year, and they sold almost 2,000 vouchers, which helped resuscitate the Philippine tourism industry, the hardest hit by the pandemic.

FAQs

1. Which destinations are part of the sale?

Expect a total of 80 participating hotels and resorts from Manila, Pasay, Parañaque, Ortigas, Pasig, Quezon City, Makati, BGC, Alabang, Cavite, Laguna, Bataan, Clark, Ilocos, Baguio, Boracay, Iloilo, Cebu, Bohol, Palawan, and Davao.

2. Is this approved by the Department of Tourism?
Yes. True to the call of the DoT’s new campaign, “Have a Safe Trip, Pinas,” SOS hopes to contribute to local tourism recovery by boosting public confidence and driving anticipation for travel.

3. Are tourism workers vaccinated?
According to the DoT, at least fourteen million (14M) Filipinos are already fully vaccinated against Covid-19. Vaccine doses are also being sent to areas identified by the government as highly dense tourist destinations such as NCR, Boracay, Bohol, Metro Cebu, and Palawan.

4. When will the e-vouchers expire?

You can use them within a year from the date of purchase and may be extended upon request. Read the terms and conditions of each hotel before you purchase.

5. What if I don’t feel safe traveling right now?

In the interest of every Filipino’s health and safety, the DoT is working with hotels and resorts to implement strict protocols and precautionary measures set by the World Health Organization (WHO) to make travel safe for both guests and employees.

“Inoculating our tourism frontliners all over the country will be a key factor in reopening the industry, as well as restoring the public’s confidence to travel, translating to higher socio-economic activities and boosting our recovery prospects. I call for public and private entities to practice the Bayanihan spirit in furthering the vaccination of our tourism workers,” said Tourism Secretary Berna Romulo-Puyat.

Since the e-vouchers don’t expire until 2022, you may defer going on a staycation until you feel it’s safe. You may also opt for just food vouchers from hotels.

Traveling Responsibly in the Time of the Coronavirus

6. The dizzying levels of quarantine are so hard to keep up with, and the travel rules differ per location. Where can I find updated and official rules for traveling in the new normal?

HSMA’s partner airline, Cebu Pacific, has compiled a list of travel requirements per location. Click here to view. They update this page regularly.

The participating hotels and resorts will also provide you with their safety protocols and requirements when you browse through their package deals.

7. What if I don’t want to stay overnight in a hotel. Are they offering day trip vouchers?

Yes, some hotels and resorts will offer vouchers for ancillary services, such as dining, drinking, day trips, and spa services. Visit hsma.org.ph/sos when the clock strikes 12 on September 15 to get dibs on the packages.

8. What is the status of Philippine tourism in the pandemic?

Last year, 4.8 million workers in the tourism industry either lost their jobs or got their salaries cut, according to Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat. With the tourism industry contributing a significant 12.7 percent to the Philippine economy, there is much at stake not just for the country, but for millions of Filipinos who work in the industry.

Projects such as the September Online Sale hope to boost our tourism and economy.
