While it’s a smaller version of the other four branches in BGC, Alabang, Clark, and Tagaytay, Baker J in Timberland Highlands makes a great little nook for San Mateo dwellers looking to grab quality croissants to go or chill for a coffee break in the municipality’s highest mountain resort with a panoramic view.

If you’re checked in, you can opt to have a light breakfast or afternoon latte here instead of the hotel’s Ridge Café. Their menu includes lattes, frappes, and other classic coffee beverages found in all Baker J branches. There’s a selection of artisan bread, pastries, and desserts. But if you’re looking for the entrées and comfort dishes you’ve seen in other Baker J menus, sorry, but this Baker J is more of a pastry shop than a resto.

Not to miss is the matcha croissant, which, as you may have guessed, is matcha-filled croissant glazed with even more matcha (green tea) chocolate. You can’t go wrong with the pain au chocolate (chocolate croissant) and if you’re doing it for the ‘gram or TikTok, ask about the giant croissant that’s good for sharing. Wash it down with your choice of coffee. I always go for the café mocha.
