Secret Spot: Tana Beach Villas, The First Luxury Resort in Lian Batangas
Just a 2.5-hour drive from Manila is this exclusive beach resort in Lian, Batangas. The moment you enter the wide brown gate, you’ll know your luxury vacation has officially begun. Tana Beach Villas has nine villas, one infinity pool, and one restaurant. As you walk around the property, you’ll hear the calming sound of the waves, which tells you that the beach is right across.
As the first luxury beach villas in that area of Batangas, Tana Beach Villas opened their gates to guests just over a year ago. With a price range of about ₱20,000-23,000 per villa per night, a strict head count, and rules such as no walk-ins, you know this private resort won’t turn into one of those rowdy, overcrowded beach spots. It’s a small, quiet resort that isn’t overhyped, so it’s safe to still call this a “secret spot.”
My friend Andrea I booked a weekday trip there in time for her birthday. We wanted a private, exclusive spot for our girls’ beach trip, but without having to go on a plane or drive too far from Manila. Tana Beach Villas was just what the doctor ordered.
The architecture and landscape feel like a cross between Bali and the Mediterranean. There are eight garden-view villas (about ₱20,000 per night) that can room up to two adults and two children (below 12 years old) per villa. There’s one seaview villa (about ₱23,000+ per night) right next to the pool area. It has a closed terrace/living room area that gives you a view of the entire property and the beachfront. If you’re bringing more than two adults per room (age 12+), you’ll have to pay an extra ₱4,000+ per head.

Travel tip: The seaview villa’s bedroom has just one king-sized bed, which makes it best for couples or friends who don’t mind sharing a bed. You’ll also have to climb a flight of stairs to get up to this villa. If you have kids or don’t like high stairs, it’s best to get one of the garden view villas, which have options for double beds. The garden villa has an outdoor terrace/balcony, while the seaview villa’s terrace/balcony (the one with the coveted beach view) is enclosed.

Amenities include free parking, air-conditioning inside the villa; a family room with a couch, TV, and coffee table; and kitchenette with a fridge, kettle, coffee maker, a mini bar. What I loved about their en suite bathroom—aside from the spacious, high-end hotel design—is the complimentary Damana Earth & Sun bath line. It’s always a plus for me if the hotel goes beyond the cheap, generic toiletries.
Trese Clubhouse is the sole restaurant-bar in the property. They’re open from breakfast to dinner, and you can pop by anytime during those hours for a drink or meal. They have board games in the dining area to remind you to unplug and unwind. There’s free breakfast, which you can have in your villa, or as Andrea and I decided—at one of the Trese Clubhouse tables facing the beach.
The infinity pool overlooks Lian Beach and has cozy day beds. It’s the perfect spot to hang right before the sunset. We were happy to just to eat, drink, and lounge by the pool all day, but if you want to additional activities, the concierge can help you book local tours, such as water sports or a boating trip to Fortune Island, which you can see from Tana.
You may also ask their staff to start a bonfire post-dinner and serve you DIY s’mores, which is what Andrea and I did. Ask about their in-room spa services, such as the Aromatherapy Massage, ₱1,200 for 60 minutes, Foot Reflexology, ₱1,000 for 60 minutes, and the Signature Massage, ₱1,200 for 60 minutes. We booked the latter.
From waking up to their elegant garden view to lounging by their infinity pool and mastering the art of doing nothing, our stay at Tana Beach Villas made our sweet esape from Manila worth the trip.
